Creative Calling

This post is dedicated to all of the creators out there…which is, everyone. 

In his book, “Creative Calling,” Chase Jarvis says we all have creative skills that should be embraced and cultivated. 

Have you ever wondered how you could live a deeper and more fulfilling life?

This book is a great place to start. 

Using Creativity 

As it turns out, we all have the capacity to be creative, we just have to use it.

How?

In the simplest terms, create something; day after day, month after month, year after year.

You could start by using your imagination and create whatever comes to mind. You could create a painting, a photograph, or a business. 

Chase Jarvis says that creativity is a natural human function that is essential to our health and well-being. Our creativity is the key to unlocking a source of vitality. 

Although we are all naturally creative, we will need to build it, as a muscle, in order to readily access it. This is where imagination comes in.

Imagination 

Chase Jarvis provides a great starting point to creating the life we want: imagine, without limitations. He says that a lot of our limitations are placed on us by other, often well-meaning, people. We need to let those limitations go when imagining what we can create. Use your intuition…you know that small voice inside that you can feel is the truth. With your imagination, you will be choosing your direction using intuition, heart, instinct, and reason.

Design Your Future 

After we have used our imagination to come up with what we want to create, the planning stage comes next. This is where a strategy is designed to manifest our ideas in the world. 

Have you ever heard the saying, if you fail to plan, you plan to fail? The truth is, we need even the slightest framework to ensure our success with our creative work. Taking consistent action based on a strategy will get us toward our goal.

Put It Into Practice 

In this section of the book, we are reminded that there is no creating without doing.  

Now our ideas start to manifest by putting in the work. 

Commit to your plan and creative idea through action. Start painting those pictures, writing that book, or building that business…now is the time.

Expand on Your Vision 

The next piece of the puzzle is to expand on what you have envisioned and create impact. Here, we are provided with an abundance of insight on building our community and audience. These are the people we want to impact in some way. Provide value, lean into it.

This is your path if you choose to accept it. 

There are so many nuggets of wisdom and practical steps in this book that I know I will be using for years to come.

Our “Creative Calling” may very well be our highest calling.
